48,168 deaths from coronavirus and only 394 due to influenza. That seems to be the same phenomenon as in the USA.

So I looked back a bit to 2018.

Unlike in 2020 where deaths from pneumonia were broken out separately, in 2018 pneumonia deaths were listed in a category called "Influenza
and pneumonia". For that year 27,142 deaths from that combined category and 1,523 from influenza alone.

Now looking back at 2015, which was a very bad year for Influenza in the UK, there were an additional 28,189 deaths over the year before, which this article attributes to a flu vaccine that was largely ineffective.

"The failure to provide an effective flu vaccine last year may have contributed to the largest rise in deaths in England and Wales for 12 years, the government’s public health agency has admitted.

An additional 28,189 people died in 2015 compared with 2014, the largest percentage increase since 1968, according to figures published by the Office for National Statistics. The majority (24,201) of the excess deaths were people aged 75 and over, many of whom died from flu or dementia.

The flu vaccine issued last winter only provided low protection against the main strain of the virus then affecting the UK, Public Health England (PHE) said."

So what conclusions can we draw from this? The first and most obvious is that governments changed how data is reported in the age of Covid, making comparisons with other years more difficult, and the second is that Covid seem to have somehow depressed flu deaths.
That backs up what I said. I suppose Milland is going to say all those studies are from unreliable sources, then start hurling more 6 year old level insults.

For the 999th time (not an exaggeration, BTW), the reason flu deaths were depressed during the time of Covid was due to:

    1) Lockdowns and Social Distancing. When people are separated, guess what? They don't transmit harmful viruses and bacteria to one another. What happens then? Disease transmission goes down! Wowsers!

    2) Masks and other PPE. When masks that help cut down transmission of saliva and snot droplets are worn, guess what? They cut down the transmission of disease vectors, and therefore the diseases themselves. Wowsers again!

Take 1 and 2, and what's that add up to? Three is a good try, but the answer is a reduction of flu deaths. Wowsers yet once more!

Why is this so hard to understand for you guys? Do you need your bosses to explain how a micrometer works each day when you report to work?

No, I just treated you like folks who've had brain damage. It's not insulting if it's true...

I just saw yesterday that our one term cult leader president has collected 75 million dollars so far with his "stop the steal" grift and has spend zero dollars of that money trying to stop the steal. But the foolish trump cult members just keep sending him their money. Stupid is as stupid does.

These trump idiots probably don't use micrometers. They just look at the part and know if it's good or not. If it comes back as bad they just start pointing fingers.

That also works on police officers too.

Yes, as we saw during the Capitol riots, when trump insurrectionists brutally attacked the DC police officers. Have you expressed your outrage about the callous treatment these wounded heroes have received from the Repugs?

    Hmm?

Your attitude is noted. I'm sure the police would be delighted to read of how little you support them.

Yet they still transmitted Covid all over the place, but all those measures stopped the flu? Glad that makes sense to you.

Sorry that you don't understand that infectiousness of a disease is variable. Some are easy to get and pass along, and others more difficult. What we call "flu" has a different "uptake" than Covid, and that infectiousness becomes even more stark when we look at some of the newer variants.

This isn't a current chart (from 2014), but it gives an idea of the differences in rate of contagion for some diseases.

It only makes sense when you see it in the proper context. The "true believers" are part of a strange new religion known as the Cult of Covid. It is no accident that its most ardent members are leftists because with Covid they figure they've finally found a vehicle to "fundamentally transform" the world, which is what leftism is all about.

They are called by various names such as Covidians or Branch Covidians, or simply the Cult of Covid, but the piece at Dissident Voice accurately describes the psychology of the members.

"Looking in from the dominant culture (or back through time in the case of the Nazis), the delusional nature of these official narratives is glaringly obvious to most rational people. What many people fail to understand is that to those who fall prey to them (whether individual cult members or entire totalitarian societies) such narratives do not register as psychotic. On the contrary, they feel entirely normal. Everything in their social “reality” reifies and reaffirms the narrative, and anything that challenges or contradicts it is perceived as an existential threat.

These narratives are invariably paranoid, portraying the cult as threatened or persecuted by an evil enemy or antagonistic force which only unquestioning conformity to the cult’s ideology can save its members from."

"In addition to being paranoid, these narratives are often internally inconsistent, illogical, and … well, just completely ridiculous. This does not weaken them, as one might suspect. Actually, it increases their power, as it forces their adherents to attempt to reconcile their inconsistency and irrationality, and in many cases utter absurdity, in order to remain in good standing with the cult. Such reconciliation is, of course, impossible, and causes the cult members’ minds to short circuit and abandon any semblance of critical thinking, which is precisely what the cult leader wants.

Moreover, cult leaders will often radically change these narratives for no apparent reason, forcing their cult members to abruptly forswear (and often even denounce as “heresy”) the beliefs they had previously been forced to profess, and behave as if they had never believed them, which causes their minds to further short circuit, until they eventually give up even trying to think rationally, and just mindlessly parrot whatever nonsensical gibberish the cult leader fills their heads with."
