^^^^ you do realize that article speaks to the abomination of an administration that was trump, rt?

ps- note the bipartisan effort, and it was to ensure a fair election in expectation of how trump and his cronies would attempt to game the system.

thanks for the article, very uplifting.

Oh right, so when corporate oligarchs team up with a political party to change rules, many of which were non constitutional per the state constitutinos, promote the "correct" candidate, and actively plan protests, uprisings, and riots, THAT makes it a fair election?

The only thing that made it even remotely "bipartisan" was the corporate oligarchs who want to continue the forever wars to keep the money flowing.

Another one bites the dust. "He had been feeling fine." Was mild case of the sniffles.

Rep. Ron Wright has died from Covid-19, his office announces

Mask use should be outlawed. For republicans.

“As friends, family, and many of his constituents will know, Ron maintained his quick wit and optimism until the very end. Despite years of painful, sometimes debilitating treatment for cancer, Ron never lacked the desire to get up and go to work, to motivate those around him, or to offer fatherly advice,” his office said Monday.

    some numbers form the netherlands.
99% of the so called covid deaths are over 50 years of age.
    98 % are over 60.
    92% are over 70.
    71 % are over 80.
    25% are over 90.
life expectancy at birth is 82 years.
about 80% of the so called covid deaths did not die in a hospital.
they died in a care home etc., without having been in hospital.
the typical icu death is a 50 plus years old, obese male.
the typical death from a heart attack is a 50 plus obese male.
the death rate from covid 19 in a hospital is about the same as the death rate from pneumonia in a hospital.

i doubt the numbers for the UK will be very different.
the 115 k plus deaths in the UK is a piece of fiction.

Yes, the true figure is likely to be significantly higher.

Seriously, Winnie was good in a war but otherwise he was a rotten cantankerous old bastard even when he was young. I would not credit much of what he says, especially since he only believed in "democracy" for the upper class white folks from the home island. Not even maids and servants, just the landowners.

Did you know the democracy-loving UK controlled Hong Kong for 96 years before they got around to instituting voting ? That would be like 1992, 1993, somewhere around there ? Ahem ?

Did y'all ever allow voting in India ?

PDW, sensible ideas but what good is it if the electorate is stupid ? Seriously ?
I completely agree, but IMHO a better system than democracy (for all it's faults) has yet to be found.

Now that will put you on True Turnip's list of traitors to be executed. Disloyalty.

Note he can't bring himself to discuss the electoral issues at all, just spews out a personal attack, which from a person like him I take as a badge of pride.

He doesn't actually want democracy, as is evident. He wants a dictatorship and thinks he'll be on the winning side.

First thing dictators do is cull the ranks. I think it was Leon Trotsky, might have been Lenin, who coined the phrase 'useful idiots'.

That's turnip though I've doubts about the useful bit.

Anyway, we have universal franchise, an independent electoral commission, damn near 100% adults voting and nobody ever raises doubts about the legitimacy of elections here. So there's that.

From the article: "Wright had also been battling cancer."

A recent study has shown that Saran Wrap masks are 100% effective in blocking the virus. In your case I would suggest two layers.

A Few COVID Vaccine Recipients Developed a Rare Blood Disorder

One day after receiving her first dose of Moderna’s COVID vaccine, Luz Legaspi, 72, woke up with bruises on her arms and legs, and blisters that bled inside her mouth.
She was hospitalized in New York City that day, Jan. 19, with a severe case of immune thrombocytopenia — a lack of platelets, a blood component essential for clotting.
The same condition led to the death in January of Dr. Gregory Michael, 56, an obstetrician in Miami Beach whose symptoms appeared three days after he received the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Treatments failed to restore his platelets, and after two weeks in the hospital he died from a brain hemorrhage.

This could be a reason people are not getting the vaccine.

Oh I can understand that for sure ! There's 2 cases of this, and 475,000 cases of the other. I'd refuse a vaccine too !

Population 1.4 billion, 80,000 total cases, 5,000 total deaths, disruption nationwide about two months, economy doing even better than before, most likely they'll keep the effective, capable, intelligent government they have. Performance counts in some parts of the world.

As I mentioned, democracy is a nice idea but ...
Well, it just depends what, and how much, you are willing to give up to get a government that is able to control enough details of everyday life and thought that they can manage a pandemic.

The US has done better in the past. About the future, I'm not sure. Too many "well-below-average" folks vote how they are told to, even when they are voting for folks who want to kill them.

Most of the "well-below-average" voters do not even know how the government works, and what a representative republic is. (The US is not a democracy, and I hope it never becomes one.... democracy is mob rule, in other words pretty much what the q-anon crowd of looters wants)
