Its good imo, creates dialog rather than division imo.

Just my 2c but for me Sami, articles like that get filed under propaganda. Along with stuff like this.

Some of us are never going to agree over Covid 19 (and many other subject) so we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I appreciate that. I have not passed on much and do not know a whole lot though in the close circle of friends and acquaintances there are several who have contracted it and one cousin died of it.

No one should trust what they see without skepticism today in the news it is designed to sell quick. Sweep up with retractions if any later. I trust persons who are friends and relatives first hand experiences always over media when it relates to my life. As I think we all do.

On here something will likely bring a attack though so far I have seen only respect and concern which is a good break from having to set you dim wits straight.

    Well think about it.
It’s good for China to have the west believing it’s a hoax
That way people will not do things to stop the spread.
And have it kick the economy’s ass for a longer time,
and some has to pay for all that hospital time.

Stats. How does the response and death rate compare to your neighbors in the EU and has travel been restricted?

Are vaccinations available to all or are there priorities based on age or occupation?

Ignoring the tiny states that are the size of a small town, Belgium and Czechia have a higher rate per million, Italy and Boznia/Herzegovena have a similar, but lower rate and the rest have a substantially lower rate.

Travel has been banned except for 'reasonable excuses' such as work if you cannot work from home, food shopping, medical, excercise once a day. No mixing with more than one other family. The lockdown was less strong before mid December and is less strong than places like Spain and Italy have.

Vaccinations are available, currently prioritising over 80s, and care home residents/staff Health and social workers, over 70s and clinically vulnerable groups, people in roles that are vital to the vaccination program. Over 50s are planned to be receiving their first doses by march, apparently.

Current progress is that 10% of the population have received at least one dose so far. In order to get some level of protection in the shortest possible time, second doses of vaccine are being postponed to some extent, compared with first doses.

Curious why you would think that ? How does it help China ?

It's killed the tourist industry, which was a pretty good way to suck dollars out of people. Lots of that was in out-of-the-way places, that don't have so much else. Hit the five star hotels especially hard. Killed the trade show business, several in China were largest in the world. Hasn't helped Air China or China Eastern any. Hasn't hurt exports I guess but don't think that overcomes the losses elsewhere .... I don't see any way that the west flocking up the virus response is a help ? How do you figure that ?

Limy, I don't think this is a matter of outright disagreement. It's more a matter of understanding both sides, if there are real sides, and realizing there is truth to both sides. Explain the lack of Influenza deaths. All flu is down considerably. My opinion? If I may, is we are not being told everything and there is a real advantage to certain people that the bogeyman stays alive.

Because people aren't mingling as much, therefore they're not spreading disease to one another as much.

It's not rocket surgery. It's rocket virology...

Seasonal influenza infection is also down 95% here in Qld.....where its ages since there has been a covid death.....I have always been careful not to touch my face when out in public ,and have not had influenza in 40 years.....consequently I think the precautions for the covid have also stopped the spread of influenza most effectively....Masks in particular......I also note ,I havent seen anyone sneezing or sniffling out in public anywhere Ive been in the last six months.,,,,I recall early on ,a woman getting the rough end of the pineapple for sneezing at a shopping centre......Comments like "Slut ,go and die at home" from other women.

Your observation about what seems to be a decline in the flu is a good point. No doubt people everywhere are being more cautious in regards to hygiene.

Or the alternative, simple and obvious reason why "influenza" deaths are down: COVID-19 is simply replacing influenza as an explanation for death...
