Despite your silly rant, California is doing just fine.

Are we "dead broke"? hardly. California business' can easily carry the weight of all the Libtards on their back, and also the elevated taxes. For those that put their politics before prosperity, you should leave CA immediately, and quit blaming the state on your feeble business practice.

Well. Hell. Whatever you want to believe. No skin off MY ass-ettes.

But "just fine"? You should have seen it fifty years ago.

When there is nothing LEFT to "carry the weight..." 'coz all the libtards who remained are net TAKERS and their food supply has either been eaten already or has escaped?

I don't think either one of us will WANT to see it fifty years from NOW.

Then again, soon full 75 years on the clock, I won't be able to anyway, will I?

"Cop out"? F**k yeah. So sue me.

TOP THAT, for a game o' sojers, pollyanna!

There seems to be a lot of retired machinist on this site. Many of them are knowledgeable participants.

Despite your negative view of CA, I will refrain from anymore comments toward a senior citizen.

UK has gone to bed. Coming up lunchtime, Hong Kong. Got another part of this old round ball o' dirt to catch up with.

    Sleep? Deferred. As usual.

I don't think that "missing" is the right word.

This is what the Census Bureau has to say about our new county

U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts: Lemhi County, Idaho

Finding that Asian market mentioned above may be quite the trick, however the stores in Salmon (28 miles away ) seem eager to order and stock anything we ask for and only takes a few days to get. Our new town is 5 miles away and has 273 people counting us. I am only guessing but I think there are 10 times as many Elk, deer and big horn sheep as there are people.

We are having a bit of trouble getting used to the new view out the front of the shop, it kind of makes you want to grab something to drink and go sit by the river.

    This is what I am forced to endure as a result of what I consider to be Californias anti-business policies;
I start here in the morning
    img_6497.jpg
Walk out the patio door having to look at this
    img_6498.jpgimg_6499.jpg
    pass the garden

I only have about 10% of my machinery and very little support stuff but am making do with one "Haas in a box", I have yet to get insulation in the building and it will be a while before I do so my wife and I made an insulated box and am using it that way for now.

Another big issue in many areas of California with PG&E being able to restore power is that before turning it on they have to inspect every inch of the lines and in areas that don't have roads following the lines they have to use helicopters or on foot. That puts them over and through some heavily guarded pot plantations where they have to have police protection and are sometimes confronted with folks not wanting visitors.

Idaho Jo is very confused as to why we keep going back for more machinery and don't just stay here
    img_6470.jpg

Here is a haas and a box with a compressor in a box on their way
    img_5500.jpg

My wife hauls an 18 foot trailer full of office/household stuff that doesn't need wind or wet and we haul hers back on mine.
    img_5210.jpg

Right wrong or indifferent we are leaving California politics, PG&E, and the pot plantations behind us, so we can go somewhere where folks are like they used to be when we were growing up.

It will be a lot of work turning a pole barn into a machine shop and filling it with too much stuff as we are leaving 7000sf of shop for 3500 so some stuff won't come and some will be condensed but all in all it makes my wife and I feel kind amazing. We are looking forward to a better future in our eyes.
