Maybe it is a courtesy to some, but like Scott said if you read the last two pages of closed threads you can figure out why they are shut down.

OT: someone (or a few brought up this subject)

One major problem with capitalism (IMHO) is that it gives communist countries something to envy.
Why do those darn Americans own a house, have a boat, plenty of food, and I don’t?
That might be asked by some hard-working guy in China, North Korea, and Cuba.
Having these two systems on the same planet seems not to work.
I know some of our current grubberment dopes want to share the wealth with trying to make everybody equally poor.

The premise of capitalism is if you work hard and do something worthy you might get better off, even wealthy. This can be achieved even if you are of the working class. I am fairly wealthy just from working hard, holding a decent job, running a small sideline, and not having costly bad habits.
My son is fairly wealthy for working hard at a good job, making good decisions, and not having bad habits.

China, India, North Korea, Cuba one can work to the bone and still be poor.

*No, I’m not talking about the J and T guys / argument so let’s not start that thread closing theme.

It's always been based on "the farmers" as a class as the basis of the country, the head guy is the son of heaven responsible to the people, and the bureaucracy's job is to regulate society towards a fair and civilized result. (There is no question that certain periods have been more successful at this than others.) You can read your Confucius, Mencius, Xunzi, Laozi and they are all texts on what is the best way to accomplish this. But the goal is the same for all of them, a civilized society.

The goal for the US appears to be different.

China society bears a similarity to the economic portion of Karl Marx' vision of society. It resembles communism more than any other Industrial Revolution ideology. So it kind of is communism, but it's not communism as derived from Marx and put into practice by Mao Zedong. It's a native thing, with a lot of the same answers to problems as Mr Marx came up with, but many of those answers predate Marx by centuries and in other areas it is totally different.

You fit the description of fascism pretty well. Mussolini - "Operation of the government for the benefit of the large corporations." Been headed down that road for about forty years ... is that going to continue ? The Enlightenment portion of the country - "All men are created equal" seems to have been burned out by greed and hatred. But that's just my own observation.

History in the making. Interesting to watch ... from a distance
"E G" must be gaining some points with the CCP with his(?) posts playing shit stirrer. Or maybe just speaking to the five or so people who yearn for CCP style socialism.

Possibly a chance to get moved up in the line waiting for one or more of those harvested organs perhaps?

My assistant wants a new car, something real basic, like a Porsche. She thinks the Macan is cute, and will probably get one this year.

Your impressions are way way way off. The average Chinese person is probably better off than the average American.
Agree some are doing very well in China, but be honest and tell me how many lathe operators or fast-food cooks own a car, house, and a boat..plus have no worry about food?

I am all for China and wish them the very best but I don't want the USA to become the like.

Name one. Name ONE person in American government whose goal is to make everyone poor.

Biden? Nope, he's said nothing about making everyone poor, he's just talked about jobs for the poor and middle class, along with an emergency spending bill to fend off impending homelessness and poverty for individuals and small business.

Bernie Sanders? He talks about easy access to college education, and is himself worth close to $2M. He's said NOTHING about wanting everyone to be poor.

So, who else? Name names. We've got time, do some research and spill the beans.

Yes, China has either the first or second largest number of billionaires in the world, depending on whose list you go by.

But they also have among the largest numbers of very poor, and just recently Xi "didn't" celebrate a claimed milestone in reducing it:

China has reached a major milestone in ending absolute poverty. But the Communist Party isn't celebrating yet - CNN

And who knows how the numbers were cooked to please Chairman Xi - eh?

Good article. I hope China continues to improve but I certainly would not trade government style with China.
As many faults that we can claim our government has the USA working class is much better off IMHO.

    PracticalMan here.

Those threads were closed by me because they either broke the forum guidelines or the discussion became too unrelated to manufacturing. Those conversations – especially when include obscene, hateful, or threatening language – not only disrupt the forum experience for our members and visitors, but they are against our forum rules. Those rules also state that the PM administrators can remove, edit, move or close any content item for any reason.

We appreciate your continued support of Practical Machinist and hope that we can work together to make this an educational and safe place for all.

That being said, I’m going to close this thread since the OP’s question has been answered.

    Thank you, PM.

Discussing the need for a covid vaccination is very definitely related to manufacturing. Healthy workforce is mandatory for healthy economy. That thread was closed. Why?
