It seems I'm not the only one who felt that Trump was not seriously proposing to buy Greenland. I wonder if it was leaked long before the WSJ article and helped persuade Denmark to fund the airport.

'Trump's idea to buy Greenland, reported by the Wall Street Journal on Friday, August 16, "is not a serious proposal," said Heather Conley, a specialist at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington.

But, "The administration has awoken to the Arctic as a geostrategic issue," she said.'

Greenland isn't for sale but it is increasingly valuable

"Located on the northwestern coast of Greenland, Thule Air Base is the U.S. military’s northernmost base and the only installation north of the Arctic Circle. It is home to the 12th Space Warning Squadron, a cadre of Air Force officers and enlisted personnel that provide 24/7 missile warning and space surveillance using a massive AN/FPS-132 radar."

Greenland’s not for sale, but it is strategically important

Why it's important to the U.S. and its allies to counter China's ambitions in Greenland.

How a potential Chinese-built airport in Greenland could be risky for a vital US Air Force base

Greenland Forgoes China for Airport Contract, Assuages US, Danish Fears - Sputnik International

So while the world's Trump-hating "news" media prattle on about what they portray as foolishness brought on by ignorance, it may in fact have been a brilliant strategic move. What was once known only to a few, the strategic importance of Greenland, is now more widely known as is China's interest in it. And YES, there are minerals there.

I also believed this to be true. Funny how things like this are caught and corrected while the widespread belief continues. Thank you for the clarification.

I have a few old trade blankets around here somewhere.
I’ll let you have them want to trade?
Let’s say two for the state of New Hampshire...?
I’ll throw in a couple of glass beads if that would sweeten the deal.

That's it, Buddy! We are cutting off your supply of maple syrup, and cider donuts are next if you keep it up. No poxy blankets will buy this state. It'll take at least five fine quilts, and a throw rug. None of this import crap either, domestic only!

No need. We grow our own.

Check surnames and ethnicity, any time, any war.

Weird-Adolph was f**ked before even we set boot on the continent between Finns, Norsk, Balts, Scandihooligans in general - and some of everything else., the wide-world over.

Oh.. and nearly as high a percentage with at least SOME German ethnicity - over 70% - as he had on his OWN side, what with Italy and Eastern European Divisions dropping his averages.

British Commonwealth was so different? Surnames in the battle record say otherwise.

Golfing in Greenland is hard because it is so easy to lose those little white balls in the snow and ice. I wonder if trump keeps his Golf scores with the same accuracy and consistency that he reports other facts to the public.

I'm sure that with a bit of coal and oil, it would be possible to melt all that annoying ice off of Greenland, so it could be made into a nice golf course.

Trump is a known golf cheat, and as Ian Fleming taught me, there is nothing else quite so low.

"Good" is so pale, so inadequate a description for cider donuts that it's an insult. No cider donuts for you.

However, we're having a special on horse flies, I'll send a container load to your dock.
