The Califonia pet shop rule is cats, dogs and rabbits only. Must be from a shelter.
If they really want a name brand pet they can go to the farm and see Mom & Dad and living conditions. If it is a breeding mill with abused parents and no human interaction for the little ones most folks would go elsewhere. Same if the adults have hip problems that can be inherited, bad personalities etc.

I once had a dream that everybody could have their own computer.
Tried to talk my Dad into it as a business venture.
He ridiculed the idea, telling all his friends how crazy I was.
Sat me down and sternly told me that only very big companies would have a use for a computer, that nobody could hope to compete with IBM, and that I should invest my time in "real" things not such flights of fancy.

At the time there was no use or reason for a personal computer but dreaming sometimes leads to unknown things.

Your father was right... in a way.

All this accessible information has corrupted the collective society of individuals.

10 people in a room not 15 feet square. Not a word between them. Each absorbed into the programmed "information" supplied by content providers.

    SICK!

It is no wonder the world is turning on a slightly different axis.

You did not look deeply enough into your dream.
Perhaps profit is your only goal... or short shortsightedness..

This was the famous quote from Watson Sr: 'There is a market for about four or five computers in the entire US.'

Ya gotta dream, to move ahead.....

    Yes, Accessible information

Content filled by someone else that is not present to explain clarify or defend the content presented.

    Replacing social intercourse.

It is NOT GOOD. But seems to fill some need in humans.

    Read the post content

Not a word of condemnation of individuals, Not a word of "better than you" BS.
Not a word of "I don't do it" self exclusion.

Perhaps it is your colors that are staining the wash.

There IS a difference between a forum or Special interest group than 'surfing the internet" and checking tweets.
For one, we can criticize other's posts because we didn't read them for content.!

Might not have been your intention, Cal, but I (and apparently Digger as well) took this response to Carbide Bob talking about his dreaming about widely using personal computers as a criticism of today's computing-centric world -- and perhaps Bob in particular. I just thought it ironic. Here's the "content" you asked me to re-read:

" . . .10 people in a room not 15 feet square. Not a word between them. Each absorbed into the programmed "information" supplied by content providers.

    SICK!

It is no wonder the world is turning on a slightly different axis.

You (responding to Bob) did not look deeply enough into your dream.
Perhaps profit is your only goal... or short shortsightedness.."

Can't speak for Digger, but I thought it kind of ironic that someone with 6000 posts, apparently upset about all them others that's using computer media, would be telling us those folks must be sick -- and that Bob's notion that we all might eventually be using computers must have been his greed or short-sightedness?

I'm still apparently not clear on what you intended with the personal computers > SICK! > greed bit. Just pointing out that whatever it is, you seem to be a frequent flier right along with others here.

My own comment about pot meet kettle was trying to say that you, Bob, Digger, and I are all frequent users; myself from back in 2002.

MAHA is more appropriate. Make America Hate Again.

I think division and hate are really magnified in the U.S. Internet and overplaying things in the news. Ratings seem to weigh in on the strategy.
