NY Times had an interesting article on Trump's "outreach" to his base to fund various lawsuits. Turns out the fine print says most of the money goes into Trump's pocket - either to pay for the family's new PAC or to pay off campaign debt. Seems he's worried about the few hundred million coming due on loans.
Meanwhile the DOD is in disarray with the latest moves, but still no substantive action on any help for opening up businesses at the Federal level.

Didn't they institute something about refusing to obey an illegal order after My Lai ?
The sucker's done. He ain't shit. Ignore him.
In China, if this happened, they'd all say "yes sir !" but never get around to it. No idea what happened, sir, the dog must have eaten those orders. And the printer is out of ink, we'll send off for some fresh ... damn, due to covid, there's none in the city, we'll have to bring it in from Wyoming ....

You're being kind by asking questions, but no need to wonder. We'd be done. Of course, like the successful countries, we'd have to keep the borders essentially closed with an eye out for the whiners and kindergartners who can't wipe their own nose and "just don't wanna".
The model is there, people. Proven, demonstrated, in place, working. AND the people who've been successful at it are glad to show us how they're doing it. WTF is your problem? "Just don't wanna"? If your company was going down the tubes over some technical issue and your best customer not only showed you how to fix it but volunteered to help, is that what you would say? "Just don't wanna?"
Have to agree with EG on this one - we are pretty damn stupid.

You can only do that if You allow essentially zero flights and planes and private travel into and outof the country, and test, twice, in quarantine, 100% of all entering and exiting traffic including military and diplomats.
Pretty hard to do when private cars can go into sweden and citizens can enter into finland without official quarantine at the border.
It only takes one or two people to start the whole process again, if say asymptomatic officials are allowed to "self-quarantine" and then start with another 40 cases in a government office 2 weeks later.
Temp checks, as was done here in Spain in all schools and all summer in camps, at gyms etc. are totally useless.
They only catch a small minority of cases, a totally useless activity of no real value.
Still, every morning all the kids temps are checked.

What do you guys use ? In small venues we use a handheld electronic thing, doorman holds it over your wrist as you walk by. Bigger places have a screen and can scan an entire crowd walking by.
Small effort. If it picks up one child, who can give it to seven children, who can give it to forty-nine children, who take it home to mom dad granny and grandpa, the little tiny effort doesn't seem "useless" to me.
Going by what they seem to have found so far tho, maybe third grade and above ...
Of course if you are using mercury-filled anal thermometers, sure ...

Just thought to chime in. My father just passed yesterday due to confirmed Covid. Apparently the VA home where he was is being ravaged. Details of the severity of the outbreak are under wraps, but we heard they have brought in the National Guard.
