Hell, it was Mexico...you are an invader.
The problem isn't them moving into your space...it's the Euros moving in to theirs.

The government doesn't want to stop it, it is a huge profit machine for them. My wife is a lab tech in a largely hispanic inner city hospital. They average 4-8 overdoses a shift. The people come in close to death. They are given narcan, they recover almost instantly and are back on the streets 1/2 hour later. No rehab or any other help. It is pathetic.

I think this point the only think we know for certain is making drugs illegal does not work and causes a shit storm of other problems, not sure making them legal fixes it either, but one thing for certain every developed nations drugs laws don't seam to be working out as hoped.

Yep. The Mexicans selling drugs across the border are just being good capitalists, supplying an artificially constrained market to the best of their ability. If the USA didn't have such restrictive laws, the trade wouldn't be illegal, prices would drop and everyone would be happier.

Well, maybe not the drug smugglers or the USA control freaks.....

The human propensity for mind-altering substances, whether legal or illegal, is kind of amazing. Just walk through a large liquor store, or look at the bottles on the wall behind the bartender in a large bar. Amazing how much time, money and effort goes into inventing this stuff and making it. I suppose there's just as much variety in drugs, maybe not as well-packaged.

The craving seems to be universal, across all cultures and periods of history. What's with the human brain?

now that moat idea has some real merits

if you made it deep and wide enough you could use it instead of the
    Panama canal.

I don't see congress allocating the great ape's wall fund.

even the great ape knew when he came up with his great wall idea
that it will never get built.
it's a government project with out approved funding, strike one
it's a government project with out approved plans, strike two
it's a government project with out an EIR, strike three.

the ape's term will be up before it could get though all the red tape.
nothing more then campaign hot air, more distraction from the real game.

There isn't going to be much of a wall or any. What the Maniacal Mango fails to realize that most of the property that this wall will go through is privately owned. Some big agriculture businesses work tracts of land that the border goes right through, you can't tell the US from Mexico. All this and more make building a wall extremely complicated. People who voted for the Tangerine Tornado never took even a moment to think about all the things the Nauseating Narcissist promised.
