Rock Island Arsenal

I equipped half of my shop from the RIA back in the pre-internet days when they had onsite auctions there. Maybe some of you guys remember those. You went in a room with bidding paddles and were expected to sit down like gentlemen. Any talking was considered possible collusion and you would be ushered out by the authorities. It happened to an old guy who just went along for the trip with us once.

It's amazing to stand in some of those old buildings and attempt to think of all the skilled men and women who have worked there over the years. There was some real patriotic pride doing their jobs.

As Americans, we are blessed to have such a facility still in place for us!

Recently I saw a 1000ee for sale but emailed to find out it was no longer available. Luckily they showed the data plate and I emailed monarch about the machines whereabouts. It's from rock island arsenal in 1954 and arrived there at 1955 iirc.
