    I see stuff for sale there through government surplus auctions. It is sure in the middle of nowhere. Never been though.
    Lassen county has 35,000 people total. Mount Lassen is the only active volcano on the mainland USA. last blew up around 1915

    There are hot spots on many of the mountains in the Cascades.

    I have visited several of them myself. South of Bend in Central Oregon there is a substantial test thermal power plant project being built near Newberry Crater, a collapsed volcano. I hope they don't screw up too much of the beautiful country they are working in.
