I would like to make (have made) a custom bracket to hold my compound cross slide on my Delta 46-450 12" wood lathe. I have some ideas of how to do it but I have no metal working experience and no metal working tools. If you're interested in a creative fabrication project, contact me.
The reason for doing this is to modify my machine for turning banjo rims... [hollow cylinder 11 - 11 1/2" dia by 2 - 3 ".
I also would like some ideas on holding the workpiece.
Spindle is 1 x 8tpi.
I believe I/we can mount my compound "out" where I can manually machine the outside of the cylinder.
I would NOT want to permanently change or damage my machine... but like I said, I have some ideas of how to do it. Just need the advice and expertise of experience. Thanks.
