How fast do you need them? We are doing a very large run of small part 4140 in this size
Could sqeeze them in some where.

Not sure that I have ever knurled 4140.
How well does that work?

Need to go "cut" type for that?

Me and the old man have form knurled 4140 PH, it worked. Material is supposed to be around 28-32 RC.

I have some that are knurled now it looks fine it helps the Handguards grip the nut to stop rotating

Ox, I should clarify, when I knurled pre-hard 4140 before, it was with a forming tool from Accu-Trak, Straddle-type with convex knurls. Worked very well, knurled about a 3" length on 1" nominal OD (turned to 63/64", for 64DP knurl). It was at least 200rpm, 0.005ipr axial feed, but I know I bumped it up a bit at the control.
