Hi all,

I’m after a price for 3,000 brass, through-threaded standoffs – 2k of 5/16th round brass and 1K of ¼” round brass.

Thread pitch of 10-24 length 0.500” +- 0.005”.

No OD chamfer on the ¼” wanted and a raised burr is fine on them

Slight OD chamfer on the 5/16th ones. They go through a hole reamed to 0.3160".

So the only setup change from the 5/16th to ¼” would be a collet change and length check.

My screw machine is down and I am quickly running out of the above parts.

I figure I have about 3 weeks left.

Thanks.
Jim

Sure. It's not that critical but what I've been using is:

Free Cutting Brass C36000 H02 (half-hard) Round
ASTM B 16/B 16M|2010 ROHS COMPLIANT
Chemistry Only

I used to just call it alloy 360 half hard but they added a "C" and a couple more zero's to it a number of years ago. Only once have I gotten something that worked fine for my application (a manual woodworking clamp) but the swarf came off in long strings and matted up like a brillo pad clogging up the parts deflector and making it a pita to get the little parts out of it. But that was only one bar out of hundreds.

Normally, the chips are small, and forming taps work fine for all that I've used so far.

Update:

I may have figured out what's wrong with my machine with the help of Steve from APE, and have parts being overnighted. I should know by tomorrow night if they are the only problem.

So don't waste any time on the quote. A thank you to HiNi.

Regards,
Jim
