Seeking shop to machine Stellite(tm)

We sell Stellite and similar materials and get requests to have it machined into vanes and scraper bldes as well as knife blanks and similar.

Generally very tight tolerances in a hard to work material.

Bad news / good news.

The company that wanted it done has shut down. Atleast we didn't get stuck for any money.

We will keep you in mind for next time.

on 7-14 they were taking quotes then on 7-19 they had shut down?

This was a project that had been hanging for a while. We had sold them metal for scraping cereal mixers. Their machine shop didn’t want the new project and we couldn’t find anyone.

I saw this forum and decided to see if we could find a machine shop. A few answered so I had sales get back to the customer. She called and found the phone had been disconnected with no new number so I cancelled the ad.

We take this seriously and don’t advertise if we aren’t pretty sure we have a serious customer however not all the projects we discuss come through.

I was honest in the ad, we do get requests on an ongoing basis and I replied to everyone who answered and explained the situation.
