grinder scaling

brought my Newall turbine grinder to my shop 2-2-2016

needed scale weight--here is how we did it

I don't understand the "penalty". If the Gov't says it weighs 10 lbs agree with them. Or did you get an overweight ticket?
 
Gov Liq stated machine and 2 control cabinets scaled 10,000
aggregate-- total weight was just under 15,000

forklift capacity was based on 10k estimate for total--so
grinder lift had to be routed to another facility on another day
 
question about turbine grinder--

machine I purchased was put into service in 2000 at Lockheed
rebuild facility near San Antonio
built by Newall--in UK and owned by US DOD--it was dedicated to
grinding jet turbine compressor spools out of military attack rotary aircraft--Apache, Longbow, Huey

tip regrind only at 7000 spool rpm

I will retrofit with my proprietary control ---this machine will replace my Cincinnati 10x24 od grinder which has a partial cnc retrofit

machine frame is very robust--close up pics soon
