I have a late 70's S30E. Fixed it up quite a bit, new paint, new tires, new hoses, all new seals, Mast rollers, etc. I lubed up the engine cover hinges and replaced a few bushings in there now it pops up unless you're sitting on it. These must have had some kind of latch to hold the engine cover down, but this one is long gone.

Anyone have a pic of one that's intact or even better, know what Hyster might call it so I can order one?

Thanks!

Mine has a hinge arrangement similar to a F series, with overcentre springs which hold the cover open, and also keep it closed...its a H ,but the S is just solid tyres on the same frame....If you need holddowns look at the flipover catches on a bonnetted Kenworth.....some are plastic ,and shouldnt be too expensive...or even the spring catches on a WW2 jeep.

Some of these lifts had the hood latch changed when updated, adding seat belts.
Having seat belts attached to a unsecured hood doesn't work too well.

Your situation will dictate how serious you need to be on safety equipment.
