How would you install a army type hoist on a existing gantry beam. This is the type of hoist with the trolley integrated as one piece with the hoist. Would you take the wheels off or at least increase the span so it can go up over the lower flanges. Or is there something I am missing.

Those are called low headroom hoists, do you have pics? I guess you can not slide it on from the end of beam so I would remove wheels from one side and reinstall them when hoist is in position. Remove both sides if needed.

Instaling my CM 1 ton army trolley hoist was just a matter of removing the wheel. I don't recall anything spectacular about it all. Probably a bit harder if you are talking about a 10 ton hoist.

I have 2 army style hoists, a Chester and a Wright. The Chester you just remove 1 side of wheels, its simple. The Wright is a bit more complicated, you have to split the hoist in half and reassemble but still pretty simple.
