Every use since buying this forklift about 2 years ago it has started within one second of turning the key, as it did last week. But today the starter turns it over fine, gauges display no errors.... but nothing, not even a hint of firing up. Fuel tank half full, glow plug light works (on then off after a few seconds). Any ideas ?

Just bizarre to go from running perfectly to not running at all... seems like the sort of problem that would be electrical in nature...

(and FWIW, outside temps here still in the mid 60's...plus it has started perfectly before when in the 40's.. )

Are you getting fuel flow ? (White smoke)

Could be the fuel filter plugged with water (or mold)
Or the fuel shutoff solenoid has burned out (common problem) or is not getting electrons.

I agree with Doug about the fuel solenoid being burned out or just bad electrical connection. Quick test light to solenoid to
Check for power.

If you put a finger on the solenoid it clicks as the ignition is turned on and off......this is assuming you have a VE/VF type pump......if the motor is electronic injection, then its a car type problem.

I'd think about giving it a quick snort of cheap walmart carb cleaner (as opposed to starting fluid.....DON'T do it)
If it fires, that would indicate a 'no fuel' situation, possibly an instantly failed fuel solenoid. Or some other
safety interlock or such preventing the perfectly fine fuel solenoid from opening. Did you add fuel recently, that might have had water in it?
Water in the fuel will stop flow when it hits the filters.....an instant 'no fuel' situation as well.
