Moving a Deckel FP3L

I may be purchasing a Deckel FP3L. From a conversation with the seller, it doesn’t sound like the machine location, especially the door the mill needs to go thru, will allow for picking the machine up from above. Instead, it will most likely need to be jacked, skated and winched on to a trailer.

What is the best way to move it if I can’t lift from above? I have toe jacks, prybars, pipes and skates and the seller also has bars and skates.

For travel, what are good points to run chains/straps over or thru? Does the column need to be blocked for travel, or just lowered?

It’s a tippy mill. I’d suggest thru bolting the base to timbers with large spread in front and behind before moving. Don’t recall weight of mine, but a 4400lb pallet jack won’t lift it.

Don’t recall reading anywhere about blocking the column- it’s not on a ballscrew. Maybe I should have blocked it, but I just relied on locking it for transport.

Main body is easy to strap down to trailer.

Congrats on getting a neat mill!
