Just picked up a Harig grinder 70 miles away and plan
to bring it home on my heavy utility trailer, trailer is very
stout I just want to be sure I have it tied down correctly.

I will get a couple long 4x4's or 2x6's and fasten grinder to them.

I have a couple very heavy straps I will use also.

Any ideas or pointers would be surely appreciated!!!

Don't tie it down across the table. Do strap the table to the base from both X directions to assure that it is immobilized. If its a manual feed in X, chances are the table is just sitting on the ways and a gear rack engages the feed pinion when set in place. In that case, I'd remove the table and carry it separately but still strap the Y axis to the base to prevent movement.

when you stabilize the head make sure you do not put any strain on the spindle bearings, use wooden blocks to meke sure it has solid contact with the base casting but puts no strain on any of the elevating screws etc.

Thanks, got it home successfully this morning.

Blocked the spindle cartridge with wood, and 2 of us
easily removed the table, I was worried there would be lines
connected to the table but there were none.

Put a 7/8 diameter shaft thru the casting to help
secure to trailer and it worked out great for a 70 mile drive!!
