Troubleshooting Forklift Transmission Problems

Old TCM 4000 lb forklift. When its cold, itll move fine. But once it warms up, it stops moving forward. Moves in reverse fine, and if you shift back and forth eventually it'll like "grab" and move in forward.

Any ideas whats going on? Burned clutch pack that works with cold oil?

First to check is the brake disconnect valve .....connections may be worn ....next the tranny select linkages ........if that doesnt seem the problem,pull the tranny and rebuild it....Clutch packs dont burn in oil flooded trannys ,just wear,until they no longer apply .

If you think something is burned ....smell the oil ......you can smell a motor or tranny seizure in your sleep.

Call these guys at Joseph, all they do is industrial stuff. I got repair kit for my crane's velvet shuttle. Super people to deal with, clearly answered tech questions once I got into it.
Try to ID what trans it is before calling...
