284 Unclamp error Mazak VTC16C with M32B

Hi all,
I have a Mazak VTC16C with M32B control.

I am trying to manually unclamp the tool but I get an error '284 Unclamp imp.(spindle ori.unfi)' when I turn the key to unclamp

I have orientated the spindle and the S.Lock light is lit up but I still get the error.

What am I doing wrong?

Need to assign a tool to the spindle

You are not doing anything wrong, it is a quirk of the control. The PLC requires a tool number to be assigned to the spindle to unclamp manually.

Press MDI mode.
Press soft key all the way to the right (page select) once.
Press "SPINDLE TOOL NUMBER" soft key
Type in a tool number
Press Input

Go back to a manual mode and turn the key.
