that is doggy switch at pallet changer, to be more correct LOCK. If it is not, you must go int PLC ladder diagram and trace flag F198. It is error 398. If you press RESET and it clears the error but then it comes back in a sec or two (that is very useful for PLC ladder check), you have to quickly go and check what M relay is responsible for this error. Eventually you will see X input that does show what is missing. That is the only way. It looks at switches around MAGAZINE, SETUP SWITCH,TOOL CLAMP SWITCH, SPINDLE STATUS and so on.

OPERATION SWITCH
MALFUNCTION

The status of any of the switches below is
abnormal before the power is turned on.

- Cycle start button
- Spindle start button
- Spindle JOG switch
- Magazine FORWARD/REVERSE button
- Tool unclamp switch
- Machine set up switch
- Axis movement buttons
- Pallet lock pin switch (UNLOCK)

Machine status -Emergency stop

Thanks for that. When I called Mazak (had same problem) they told me it was a button that was stuck on the panel. Couldn't find any stuck buttons. Nice to have this direction to chase as well.

I'm a novice at checking the PLC stuff, but only one way to get good at it.

I had Alarm 398 this morning and found that the "Pallet Lock Pin Switch" was in the "Unlock" position. After switching it to "Lock" the alarm cleared.
