We recently installed a new Mazak HCN 8800 with smooth control, replacing our old FH880 with M+ so quite a good upgrade.
Having a little difficulty in setting the Z work offset however, clearly it`s something we are doing wrong but hopefully someone can shed some light.
With the M+ it was simple, bring a known tool in, touch off the face, go to Work Offset and "teach" 0.
According to the manual for the smooth control it should be the same however what we are finding is that doing this is not taking into account the tool length so is setting work offsets in the wrong place (thankfully well away from the job).
It`s an easy work around to just amend the Work Offset by the tool length but I`m thinking that it surely would do this automatically?
If anyone can shed light on this it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Harry
