We are fairly new to lasers and have a 2500w Mazak X612 that has been down for a while. It will travel to the start of the cut, the head will drop to the correct height off the material, but it won't fire. The technicians that have been out to look at are down to having us pull boards one by one to be tested. So far, all are coming back good. Wondering if anyone could help us with any common problems or a step by step checklist as we haven't been able to get much information from anyone else.

Thanks,
Phillip

Is it plugged in?

Is the power coming in Ok?

Is power reaching the device?

What is the operating voltage of each power supply?

Are all safety interlocks operating (and not bypassed with a stick or something)?

What is the ambient temperature?

Ground check?

Exhaust all the simple stuff, helps a lot to know who last screwed with it and what they did.

Board swapping is for idiots, find a new technician and pay them big bucks.

Good troubleshooting and diagnostics beats board swapping any day. Like the guy said; get competent help.
