I used to take out that fuse, that don't work no mo.

They offered the truck back as they don't want to keep it until the parts show up.
They ordered an exhaust manifold, gaskets, timing cover gaskets and seal, 3 weeks minimum then they will change them.
they wont offer any more, but the guy that changed the oil last ain.t there no more7

Thats about the size of it, they tied it in with other stuff, you don't want the owner to have any control, it is best to have the computer control all. I was here making parts with manual machines, like you, followed by paper tape and teletypes, now CNC, cad, cad cam, robots, self driving cars, I have been a part of it all, who should I blame it on??

I had my truck parked in front of my shop for a week and started it up and drove it to a dentist appointment. It was a 20 min drive so I went to turn the radio on. No volume? The radio was on, I could search channels, but turning the volume knob did nothing. No codes, no flashing lights, nothing else seemed to have stopped working.

Pulled my whole dash apart trying to figure out what the hell happened.

A few days later I opened my hood to check the oil and holy hell was their a giant nest under my hood. Full on squirrel apartment. Critter had eaten the lids off both battery “boxes” and made a giant nest.

Strangely they only decided to sever one tiny wire. It weirdly comes out of a harness and into the top of a battery terminal. The only thing I can figure it did was something with the volume for the radio. I skimmed through 800 pages of electrical wire diagrams and couldn’t find that wire. It’ll be awhile till my friend has time to stop by with his magic wire kit so I wire nutted it and cleaned the nest out and went on with my day.

Two days later the wanker had rebuilt its nest and severed that SAME DAMN WIRE!!!

So I did what any irrational idiot does and sprinkled cayenne pepper all over the engine compartment. I don’t recommend it. The pepper bonds to or welds itself to the wires, cables, and most plastic.

Maybe that’s why the dodge techs won’t touch my truck? No, couldn’t be, they all wear gloves.

Yah well.. Saw waaay to much of that, Dad's generation. .. then my own next-highers.. then fellow worker-bee global experts what with the comes-with-the-territory aspects of that exalted "focus".

Sod that for a game o' sojers!

I retired at age 49. Created companies for fun and play "pro bono commune" for another 16 years. No salary nor wage atall.

    Because I could

    The good news?

27 years on, I STILL don't HAVE a "feeling of worthlessness".

Any such reality doesn't actually count so long as I am comfortable, well-fed, and well shod with decent rubber on the Jag & Range Rover.

    So there... "worth" is relative.

    Always.

Just seek yer own true North ... live long and happily.

Let yer ENEMIES die of gnashing-tooth artery-popping OCD frustration!

No NEED to "beat" them. Just outlive them.

Y'all seem to have had that "stress management" thing nailed for a while, already?

It ain't so much "retirement" as gittin' to a space years earlier, where you just don't DOO a thing you don't WANT to doo.

There's even a bit o' fun to be found in that "outlive" part, too.

Like the time we pallbearers had to make a public spectacle - all hands wondering WHAT THE F**K those fools were playing at?

The funeral Director had us put the coffin into the hearse wrong way round.

Made us take it back out, frog-march in place in a circle, put it back in, other way 'round. In front of God.. and a hundred or so attendees.

    "Sir?" I told him later:

"We could have sorted that invisibly when we unloaded at graveside."

"You didn't REALLY think the deceased gave a damn, did you?"

"She'd have thought it funny as can be, added it to her 'war stories" collection to share in the hereafter."

"As she has NOW done, I am sure."

"Might want to arrange to go to Hell?"

"She'll have you a laughingstock for all of eternity in heaven before ever your even arrive!"

You'd have to know WEST by God Virginia wimmin'?

It is because they say "Mechanix" on them, kind of like when you ride a Harley you wear gloves that say Harley along with the matching shirt, leathers, helmet etc as if someone was confused as to what the noisy thing under them was. I often wonder if they have a similar outfit for each vehicle they own

Well, I've never worn gloves while packing bearings, but I doo like to wrench in my little Jersey gloves, but PLEASE don't tell my G-pa!

Boy would I git in trouble for trying to start bolts and whatnot with chore gloves on while changing headers or rasp bars,or whatnot in the freezing barn.

The Jerseys are a whole level or three better for dexterity than a chore glove for sure, but I still don't think that he'd approve.

    edit:

    No Harley helmets in Ohio....
