Congrats on the new building, glad to see it coming together.

I saw Ox's post and feel compelled to tell a quick story about old Granville King if I may.

My grandpa spent his retirement down in baja, built a cabin on the beach south of San Felipe.

Grandpa got to be pretty good friends with Granville as he lived down there and he'd stop by occasionally. He was involved with the "Gringo Gazette" at the time if I remember correctly. He was quite a character and I don't think grandma appreciated his visits as much as grandpa and us kids did.

I recall one summer he dropped in with his dog. This was mid 80's or thereabouts, I was about 10 or so, so my memory is somewhat foggy. His dog was pretty much the filthiest mangiest mutt you could imagine, otherwise a fine dog and certainly his best friend.
When he showed up Grandma offered him a beer and he said no, he'd prefer a cup of coffee. My grandma made a puzzled look as it was about 95 degrees in the shade that day, but being the old fashioned hostess that she was, she obliged and put on some coffee.
I recall him sitting there talking with grandpa about all sorts of things, myself sitting close by just listening and enjoying his company. His dog was huddled right up next to him in his chair, panting endlessly trying to stay cool. Well, as he was panting long strings of drool were forming....right above Granville's steaming hot cup of coffee.
I watched as these strings of dog drool at least 6" long each dripped there way in to that coffee cup one at a time. All the while Mr. King just sipping away and talking to Grandpa unaware of the foreign materials being introduced to his beverage. He didn't even notice until finally I said "Mr Granville, your dog is drooling in your coffee." He looked at me, looked at his dog, looked at the coffee cup, gave a quick swirl and a hard stare with one eye closed, took another sip and with a little bit of a shrug just continued talking with grandpa. He finished that cup of coffee, thanked Grandma and said it was delicious. He was an absolute character and we always enjoyed when he stopped by the cabin.

Sorry for the thread derail and thanks Ox for sparking that old memory.

Wes - You drive a grocery getter?

Maybe we can take up a collection and git'chew a sub to 4wheeler?

I would love to be able to take a collection to get'chew a collection of all the "From the BackCountry" writs from Granville King and Superdawg, but a copy of the Jeep Bible from Granville and Willie Worthy will be about as good as we can doo for now...

    I miss Granville!

Don Wood and Granville King. Some of the best magazine reading ever!
Complete opposites, and I miss'm both!

    edit:
I would love to have a copy of all the "From the Back Country" writs too!
(The Night Shift too if I could get Chris Koepfer or Lloyd Graff to take the project on.)
