I'd hate to see your insurance bill for the ITAR work you do!

I'm not even 100% sure what ITAR even is.

    Tom - no plans.

Google says ITAR is international traffic in arms regulations.

    Yer in good company.

Easily four dozen Federal Agencies haven't figured that one out to agree the same viewpoint, two hours in a row, yet, either.

And that's the problem with it... and "not-only".

Modern gunsmith has to be a cross between a legal librarian, a defense lawyer.. and an Old Skewl Riverboat Gambler.

His environment polluted by easily ten million air-headed "instant gratification" wannabee's winding-up the enforcement agencies to a froth of confusion.

Some few who are any good at all that effing overhead even still have time to lay hands on actual metal.

Firearms have been moved from ITAR to Commerce Department.
I don't know all the details but sounds like it reduces fees and less paperwork/regulations too.

I'm sure the Chinc's will appreciate that.

Hopefully Norinco remains on the banned list in the US, though others are probably sneaking plenty of that crap in.

Demand for the US made freedom toys should be good for a little while yet though from what I'm seeing on the news.
Unfortunately they banned all that fun stuff and then some last month in Canada, so that's a few millions a year we won't be buying anymore.

I don't understand why gun parts are banned from China?

Why is that different than a soap dish? Or a brake rotor? Or a 3/8 drive ratshit?

I have been told from buyers of the Chinc stuff that they need to call it sumpthing different when they order it.
    "Widget number 1234" or whatever...

Maybe China IS building and sending it over here on their own? IDK, but ...
But likely the majority of it is Yanks sending orders to China to have it built for them, and IM/HO - that is just a machined part built to customer spec.
What they doo with it is their business.

Again - I see absolutely no distinguishing reason for [non Military] gun stuff to be any more or less legal to outsource.
I wish it ALL was harder!

I will say that I haven't made hardly any of what y'all are seeing in the past 2 years tho.
We are running some now, but that will stop soon enough.

Simplistic treaties, complex technology, "multiple use" joke ==> excuse for kinky-fuckery.

The "Virtue signalers" AKA glow-ball Politicians.. set out to make it harder for bandit gangs - half of them children - to get machetes, AK's, and MANPAD missile systems with which to slaughter their neighbours and take down aircraft.

"As usual" the fools figured all they had to do was have the talking heads agree in national Capitols, UN, Brussel, and Geneva.

And "Trafficing in Arms" would cease.

That no one - least of all the Virtue Signalers - had the least klew what that actually MEANT in practice has left the intepretation to various Bureaus of Rock Rats.

Predictable outcome. Expensive confusion. Punishment of the bystanders.

And the bandit gangs getting newer and deadlier arms, more of them, and at lesser cost.

Of course they would - "virtue signalling" being about as real-world effective as a flashlight with no batteries that gets to regulate and tax your ass - and heavily so - for the privilege of being kept in the dark.

    T'was ever thus.

You'd have to know "Hooverments", perpetually sucking out all available resources they can reach.

Not because they are "left", "right", "center", "free" or "totalitarian".

For the same reeason dogs cold-nose, lick their own ass and genitalia.

Simply because they can.. and no one really cares to interfere, lest they get bitten.. worse yet, have to take it on as a full-time job their own selves.

Would be interesting to see a list but that might be too early for the thread, I am not sure which year you are up to here now, 2012 ?
You got me double checking to see if I covered the newest, and essentially I have, but the latest and greatest was fall of 2014, and I covered it at that time.

When we got done with the short run job that I bought it for, it went to the Wherehouse. But then early last year we got what was expected to be an 80K/yr job out of 2.875 alum, so we brought it back in and tooled it up. Job ran sweet! We ran 7500 pcs I think. Once it was set, we never had to make another adjustment the rest of the run. Then ... nothing... Then early this year they asked for a 750pc run I think? I requoted. (prolly not overly cheaply) and they said "forget it".

I won't forget it anytime soon.

That machine has started to get torn back down to get moved back out - once we get that kind of time again....

Other than a #3 W&S that hasn't ever been taken off the skid in the storage barn, I think this is the most recent thing that I have added.

I read to the bottom of the Doo Recoils page.
And now I have to ask: Any relation to Joey Chitwood?

We was running an aftermarket suspension bushing/spacer on it.
Like I said - it is in process of being torn down and moved out [for now].
As you may be able to see - the oil is all pumped out at this time.

Nice peek at the backside of Sir Donald in that vid.

Ya know, that area is now so popular it gets moguls. Come to the otherside of Sir D for the better riding. ;-)

I'm still trying to figure out why the piece of roofing trim is there.

Oh, and I like the term "Wherehouse". Caught me by surprise.

    Very true, tho.......

That is the preliminary parts chute.
It moves in and out with the endslide and drops the part on the lower - stationary - chute.
