Never heard of them. (must be newer than 1985 )

T-shirts and toques, I was guessin' they were hosers, but I see they are based out of Denver Town.

Watchin' that - one thing came to mind:

"Boy - that is an overhead heavy band!"

Not your 3 or 4 person band there!

Atlanta was like that, but even worse.
BOY - they were good! But how doo you keep a band of that size together?

Looks like only 8 or 9 in this clip, but when they were to our county fair around '84 I counted at least a dozen!

Turning DOM sucks. Stringy chips, gooey material, coolant leaks out the back of the spindle....................I can't help the first two............But on small Ø material I use this ol' Indian trick...........(maybe some of you guys already do this)...................the night before..............little dab'l' do ya of silly con carne........Seals 'em right up............................gets rid of the lathe's incontinence....no more dribblin' down her pants.

    Old Injuns doo this?

I just make plugs for them.

One guy that I know ust'a tell me about going around and trying to find rubber balls that would fit the holes.
First opp of the job was to push the ball behind the cut-off location. This way he wasn't filling up 10 - 20' of tube with oil.
I've never found the right balls and just use a plug.

I think that many moons ago (Injun ref) that I use'ta make slip fit plugs with O-ring grooves.
Then you can push that back if you want to.
Not sure why I stopped dooing that?
    I think I just forgot....

Also - running DOM and 1018 and such - occassionally is good, just to remind us how bad they suck!

Well I don't run 10-20' tubes, only 4 ft'rs. I like the idea of pushin the plug/ball larger stuff as you feed the stock...................... I normally just use a rubber plug at one end and then it fills up with chips when I get to the end................. But I like just gooping the hole shut on this little stuff..............

I use those expandable foam ear plugs that cost like 10 cents a piece from McMaster, you can re-use them quite a few times.

If you don't have any silicon, ear plugs work well on small ID tube...

So how are the four, (five? more?) apprentices doing. They looked like they were 6 or 7 in that tour of the new (now old) place.

I have 4 minions..............not sure who will follow in my footsteps. The oldest two are just in their teens...........ugh. The little ones..........7 and 8.

My daughter has more interest in the shop then my oldest boy. They both sweep floors, package parts, and push the green button. I really need to get them more hands on stuff............Just today I was thinking of drawing up a sketch and have them mill it out on the Bridgeport. Both do have interest in mechanical things or at least making stuff with your hands. We'll see..........the smaller two........... It's fun to help dad in the shop.................for the first 5 minutes.
