Does anyone make a small dia. dial indicator that has a larger range than 0.25"?

Yep

Chicago Dial Indicator at www.dialindicator.com makes a 0.500" in AGD Group 1 size (1 11/16" diameter).

Here's the online catalog page: http://www.dialindicator.com/mechanical_agd_group1.php

McMaster-Carr stocks this product line but doesn't show this particular indicator on their website. I'm sure they could get it. Or you might be able to order it directly from CDI.

I have several of their indicators and they appear to be of excellent quality. I highly recommend them.

I have (somewhere) a Browne & Sharpe dial indicator that goes about .300 or so. It's like .025 per rev with a second dial that shows the revolutions. I don't have it handy, it's somewhere in the bottom of all my stuff 'cuz it's really easy to make a .025 error.
