Guys, stuff like this proves no point other than negativity. Let it play out like it's supposed to, don't force it.

I had a very short ignore list and Gordon was on it, looks like now since he is a mod I cannot ignore him. I can't believe they made that annoying troll a mod. This place has went way down hill. I probably will just look for work in the RFQ section and basically stay away.

Prezactly.
Gordon is only ONE mortal fool, not a whole tribe of 'em.
He doesn't have the time and energy to destroy the ENTIRETY of PM, no matter how dedicated he has been at his chosen life work.
Bad as he is, yah don't "see" it if yah don't READ it, so he is waay less annoying than robocalls on the phone.
Simply go around the silly sumbich as if he were just one more noisy fool of a politician on the TV, a reverse-mortgage salesman, metal debris lying in the motorway, or dog-turd on a footpath.
Gawd knows we have enough PRACTICE at all that, yah?
Why should this be any more difficult?

Taxes as they are around here?
Only the wealthy still have an ASS, let alone anything below it.
"Right" wing-nuts cogitating over the economic advantage of smoking "Left" wing-nuts for pork jerky, on account of the oversupply and how easy they are to catch got pulled up short by wiser and more experienced moderate independents.
"Not gonna work. Yah ever try to CLEAN one of 'em?"

The unmentioned elephant in the room - Leigh set a pretty low bar for moderation in this sub. It's distasteful to say it now he's not here to defend himself, but that's the reality. More than once he disagreed with me enough to delete my posts, once simply because he didn't understand something I posted - which very much rubbed me up the wrong way.
Mark's promise not to do such was a good chunk of why he would have been my preferred choice. Gordon's suggestion that it's sometimes necessary (and his promptness in doing so ITT, albeit retracted) is what makes me cautious about his fitness for the role.
Otherwise, I struggle to get quite as upset about Gordon as others do. I get that he annoys people enough to block him, and now his rank displaces that ability.
I also note that Gordon was frequently (permanently?) at loggerheads with Leigh, more so than I or any other I can think of, and given the thankless nature of moderating in general I can't help but wonder if Gordon's motive to assume moderation of what was Leigh's domain is just a way for him to "win".

"since you mentioned it.." Leigh and I had that sort of chat offline, too. That his OVER involvement lead to the whole forum falling into disuse off the back of the "overhead" chronically interfering with the sharing.
And we've ALREADY had PM's pet nutter delete, then restore posts? We'd never have even NOTICED they'd briefly been absent.
Except he had to BRAG - in "strong" typeface, yet, about his magnificent power to do BOTH! That was no accident. It was a gloat, and contrived a-purpose as an assault on the good nature of the community.
"LOOK At ME!" Still yet again. Already.

No real risk there. Metrology in particular, or PM in general are only a small corner of his life, I am sure.
Mark would simply do the damned job. No drama to it.
It isn't really that HARD unless one makes it hard, after all.
See our most universal of moderators. Milacron himself, all forums but a few, and as light a hand at it as could be asked for.
Good example to read, heed, and emulate?
It has worked well and lasted a long time, so it surely seems so.
Why mess with success?
