We have a laser cutter in a remote location (Atacama desert in Chile) that is failing. The machine itself is 16 years old and we are debating whether to retrofit it with a new fiber laser or purchase a new machine altogether. To help make this decision we'd like to get a better understanding of the accuracy of the machine itself. Also, with a newer more powerful laser we might be able to make our cuts faster if the servos are up to the job.
Does anybody know of a company where we could rent a Renishaw ballbar system for a week or two? It would be hard to justify purchasing one (~$10k) for this one test.
