Unknown make Micrometer

I have inherited an old unknown make micrometer.
It is 0-0.5 inches. Has a constant slip/pressure piece above the thimble.
Most say it is an apprentice training exercise, but I have asked old timers
and they never heard of such a thing as making a micrometer as an apprentice
exercise. I was thinking early Mitutoyo or some other tool company that may not
have been putting their brand on the tools.
Thanks for any info.

You might get more responses in the "Antique Machinery and History" sub-forum, they have they have lots of discussions of old micrometers and collectors of such.

I’ve known people to make their own micrometers. However they usually purchase a micrometer head and only make the body.

It is hard to believe that any company making mics in the era, well, since they have been making mics, would not put their name on it.

I see you are in NZ, perhaps the math is wait 6 months for my mic to come from the other side of the world[in 1920], or take a month to make my own
