I've been thinking of buying one, specifically b scale, and came across a good deal on a Shore Instrument brand tester but it's at least 20 years old. It's being sold as working but I'm wary that internal parts will be worn and it won't be reliable. This is just for my own amusement checking skateboard wheel hardness, many mfg claim their wheels are 101a and I'd love to do a side by side with a proper scale and see what's what. Now that I've made a short story long, it doesn't need to be spot on, just somewhat reliable. Has one round here done any repairs/have any experience with these things? How are finding old parts if it is a bust. I am considering dropping it off for calibration also fwiw.
Thanks

Normally the case will include a test specimen. They don't wear out. Shore A is for rubber and soft plastic. Perhaps Shore "B" would be more appropriate for Urethane wheels.
