Is there a noticeable difference in the size of the two?

There is a visual difference, where the newer headstock has only one oil window, and the tailstock was made heavier for the larger quill. The later tailstock is a noticeably thicker casting.
The machines lower base casting was also made wider front to back in 1960, with a door under the headstock for the drive system.

Thanks donie for the info... Still have to get the carriage off and get the oil to the cross slide working.
