Default 10EE square dial - what is this sensor?

This “sensor” is inside the front left electronics compartment up in the top left corner. It has two wires coming out. Any idea what it is for?

Not a Monarch part. The square dial machines covered many factory drive styles, then there are many aftermarket drives, perhaps that is a component for one of those.

Over-temperature switch (bimetallic strip inside like a Klixon).

I’m guessing this is a 60’s Module Drive Machine.

Comes in handy when the QSD relay sticks closed and the braking resistor start glowing red hot.....

The factory fixed that around 1979 with a new QSD circuit. I have seen the new unit fitted to older machines.
