I need to make a pair of taper attachment covers and I don't have one to use as an example. What I need to know are some dimensions:

what gauge steel

what is the radius of the curved lip on the outside edge

-Dave

Mine are approximately 6" in the X and 6 5/8 in the Y. The material including the curved lip is 6.75" x 7.375". Radius is about 9/16 but on mine it's pretty sloppy and the back part isn't vertical, so I suspect a shop-made replacement. There's a notch in the back inside 3/4" on the X by 1 3/8 on the Y.

On edit: looks like 15ga steel, something a bit over 1/16. make sure it fits the slots before going too far

This is 1/2 of the bottom .It looks the same as the photo above.
I have a photo of the top cover. I'm not sure what holds the top in place.
I'll post that photo if the top cover

Im guessing the top caps just overlap in size.
The thickness of the metal is .62
That's all I have

Cal once told me the two bottom halves are a mirror image of each other.

If you need a closer measurement let me know. These aren't a precision radius in the corners.

bear3.jpgI just realized there is only one piece each side. I think they had mine on upside down.
Sorry if I'm confusing things. You guys know what's/ what.

A while ago I saw a pair of these sell on Ebay for $175. After that I carved up a cookie sheet. Works just fine to keep junk out of the TA.

I always liked the idea of using a heavy duty, commercial cookie sheet with a nice beaded edge to make up the covers.

My covers are pretty rough, may be shop made.

mllud22, Your pictures come in very small. Check the extensions on your files. If they are ".JPEG", change them to ".JPG" and your photos will post full width.

Cookie sheet worked great.

I can't resist showing mine. Low budget plastic parts box lids. I am going to make the cookie sheet type at some point, but these are still working.
