I'm the new owner of a Monarch 17" EF. I've learned everything that I know about these lathes here on this forum, so, can anyone tell me the difference between a 10ee and 17ef? I'm enjoying the different threads and will post progress if it looks like I have anything to add. -Thanks

The number is a general indication of size, i.e. the maximum diameter of work which can be turned.

A 17" lathe would be MUCH bigger than a 10" lathe.

What's the length of the bed?

I can't find any reference to a 17EF in my library.

I have been putting together a list of all the models of lathes Monarch has Made since 1909 (still working on it), and never heard of a 17" EF.

17" is a odd size for Monarch. Their normal lathes started at 10" swing and work their way up in 2" increments, with exceptions of 25" Model M and 27" Model N. Please provid more infomation on the lathe you have. Year made, style of headstock, and any other information you can provide. A picture is always best.

Either you have a very rare lathe, one of Monarch Lathe's rebranded lathes, or something else.

John
