(Another dealer brochure): Monarch Model AA "Super High Speed Tungsten Carbide Lathe"

What decade is this one from? 1930's?

I was surprised at the spindle speeds and overall appearance of this lathe when I found this single page ad.

I don't see a lead screw, and description calls the gearbox a "quick change feed box". No threading, I assume, unless you special ordered some lower spindle speeds...:D

Interesting to see no vee way in the front. Seems like a big chuck to be going 4400RPM?

I don't see anything that leads me to believe there isn't a front vee?

I like the toolpost, it looks very robust. It appears to accomodate being rotated, but really wants to be normal to the spindle axis.
 
I hear you. I think the “end cap” angle on each end of the front V is so shallow, almost appearing to be the perspective of a flat V.
