Everything works, but I think the brushes need replacing. Or the whole drive system.

What is something like this worth? It has the 3J collet closer and the super duper monarch tooling cabinet with it. Steady rest, follow rest, 6" chuck, 8" chuck, face plate. tool post and bunch of holders.

You've easily got $1000 worth of tooling alone. I can't tell from the one photo of the lathe whether it's a round- or square-dial machine; it could be either with that build date. Brushes are cheap, you can get them from Monarch. You certainly don't replace the drive just because some of the brushes are bad; that's like replacing an engine when all it needs are spark plugs.

Is it a 2J collet chuck and collets or a 3J? I haven't seen a 10EE with a 3J chuck, but that doesn't mean that they don't exist.

What brand is the tool post and tool holders?

Please post more photos of the machine, including what's behind the covers in the base.

Nice looking machine. It looks like there is a fair amount of tooling, along with (2) tool cabinets. On one cabinet the door swings left, on the other the door swings right.

I think I like that earlier cabinet style better than the later style.

I just sold a 1943 Monarch 10EE for $9,000.00. It was a sweet machine and tons of interest when I put it on eBay.

Well I"ll be damned. No it is just one cabinet, I guess when I went to rotate I must have mirrored also.

Yes, it is a 2J collet system.
