Worklight Placement on 10EE

The work light was an option on the 10EE, as was the coolant pump.

My present 10EE came with the work light attachment fitting welded onto the (rear) cover of the drum switch.

There is a 50 VA 460:120 volt transformer inside the base of the machine, and it is this transformer which supplies the work light.

The rear plate for the drum switch is a good
location. I believe that Monarch sold a
light that fit in that location.

My 1940 EE has a cast iron pedestal that
is for a light, which bolts to the base
of the lathe on the back side. It sits
out far enough that the taper attachment has clearance.

I also had a 42 EE at one time that came
from Litton industries, and they had mounted
a fluorescent two-tube desk light right on
top of the headstock. I always thought that
was a lousy thing to do to a EE, but it did
work pretty well.

My ex-gov't contract '59 had the light mounted on the top back rear leg of the carriage. I guess if you were doing some long
threading, the light would follow. I don't
know if I am going to remount it there though. I have the special casting that mounts to the rear plate opposite the drum
switch. Seems like a good place.
