Just finished a complete headstock rebuild. All bearings, bushes, seals, were replaced. As
well as new tachometer gears. Spindle runout
before rebuild was a little over .0003. After
barely .0001. I'm a happy camper. If anybody is contemplating doing this, let me know. There is a real sequence of disassembly and
reassembly, and if you don't take good notes you'll screw yourself. I will be happy to offer guidance if you need it. Will post some pix soon. Cheers

About $800.00 including spindle bearings.
General Bearing in LA supplied all the bearings incl. spindle bearings. I think Monarch wanted $2500. for the spindle bearings alone. Boston Gear for the Tacho
Gears at about $35.00 set. All the gaskets
came from Monarch. Bronze bushes from the
hardware store. General Bearing has genuine
USA Class 5 Spindle bearings sets for EEs
that they had made up in the Calif.aerospace
days. They're a great resource, Robert there
knows his EE's and Tree mills too!!
