I'm new to the forum. I'm restoring an old 14 inch Model A predating serial numbers. It has a gear box and star wheel apron. I have the tail stock but not a compound or the reverse tumbler. The gears on the face are missing except for the 118. I was able to tell those missing gears are 12 DP, based on the 118. All gears on spindle and back gear are gone. Someone in the forum told me the gears in the head stock were 10 DP. The spindle has ball bearings. I think they must be retrofit because the early lathes were bronze or something like that. I know some lathes were 3 cone with double back gear, and some were 4 cone with single back gear. I intend to forgo the cones. Any help from the group would be helpful in terms of gear tooth count, diameter etc would be appreciated. Is there a manual available anymore? Thank you.
