Monarch 16CY headstock weight & removal

Any idea approximately how much the headstock on one of these things weighs? Also, what's the best way to rig it for removal. I considered sticking a bar through the spindle and strapping to the bar ends but that puts all the weight on the spindle bearings. Any and all comments and advice are welcome.

Before you ask, i'm going to have the bed ground so the headstock and QCGB need to be removed before i remove the bed from the pedestals.

That's the way I do it, bearings are rated 100 times what the gearbox weighs...Phil

I was considering the same. My first thought was to use the cover bolt holes and threaded eyes, at least four, one in every corner but I think using a rod through the middle of the spindle would be the best. The weight will not be balanced but a strap to the back, say the clutch shaft, should work.

Let me know how you remove the QCGB. That is next on my CY. Mainly for cleaning and checking the bearings. Pictures would be great!
