In reading the content the series 70 is a motor/generator like the 13EE. I was under the impression the 13EE then the 1000EE and later the series 70. Now I wonder if the 70 predates the name 13EE? The cable for the apron on the 70 is different than the 13EE but, aside from that it could be a 13EE.

TheOldCar; Did you find this brochure with the documents that came with your new Model 70 Monarch? :-)

DualValve

In the 1990s George Washington Machinery had a 1000ee, I believe it was made in 1964. There were some differences from the model 70.
It had a longer electrical cabinet with 6 big vacuum tubes for the spindle control.
The carriage was a little different, the compound rest was sleeker in shape.. almost delicate looking.
The hydraulic tailstock was larger, with a pressure gage. With the pressure gage and accumulator the tail center pressure can be set on the gage, the pressure will be maintained on the work as heat expands it. The tail stock quill travel is worked with the little star wheel.
The electrical cable to the 1000ee carriage is the type that self coils, easy way to spot the 1000ee.
The 13ee must fit in somewhere.

The model 70 and 13EE were motor/generator machines. The 1000EE was the only one of the three with tube drive. I was under the impression the 70 was a later machine as well until the brochure said it was M/G. My 13EE was made in 1955, the 70's could have been the first iteration about 1952? The reason I think it was first, the 13EE has rollers on the end of the bed for the carriage cable, the 70 has no cable management.

I think I took pictures of that lathe. Before I could ask anything about it John said it was sold. 16x54Monarchheadstock.jpg16x54MonarchTailstock.jpg
