Run a MG 10EE with a VFD?

Hello!

I just got my hands on a nice working MG powered 10EE.

It works just fine now, but I am considering hook up options from 240 single phase.

Of course a Rotary Phase Converter will work just fine.

My question is can I just power this machine with a VFD set to 60 hz?

I am thinking this route because if further down the road the MG unit or Spindle Motor fails, I can just use the VFD I already have to do a conversion to a 5 hp 3 phase spindle motor + the VFD I already have.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the reply. I did do an extensive search and all I could find on VFD use seemed to be about conversions, not running a working MG unit with one. I figure if I have to spend a fair chunk of change on one or the other, it may as well be a decent VFD that I could later use as part of a conversion if the MG unit craps out on me. I have my eye on this:

Polyspede

I figure the 10hp one will handle anything I may do with it in the future with ease.

Thanks for the info!
