This is about as far as I can take this old Monarch. It works great, and doesn't have much wear. I think it sat for years because someone removed the lead screws and apron.
I've been searching for photos of the first years of Model A's and haven't found any.
I think the first couple years of Model A's had a right hand lead screw support bracket that was bolted vertically, as seen on my lathe, rather than horizontally, and had the identification numbers stamped between the ways rather than on the flat of the tailstock way. Also the compound slide was changed to a solid rectangle rather than the sculpted shape that my lathe has.
If anyone has photos of a Model A from the first couple years of production to confirm this, it would be appreciated.
