    Doesn't look as worn as mine was. They crests of the gears were razor thin on one edge completely around. That gear is a quick change if it does fail, two pins on the rods > end bracket > and eight screws to drop the apron. Man, I feel good about this thing after having it apart and all back together making some chips.

    Yep, that housing should have an external I.V. port for oil to be added at will. In looking at how mine looked, dry and full of grime/swarf, those gears don't get enough love from lubrication. I filled that sump up to the bottom of the feed rod through hole before closing it back up.

    There should be a oil line from the top sump in the apron leading to the worm gear. It's either plugged or the sump empties too fast for the line to get oil. You can see it in the first post in this thread:
