We have a project in house for a customer who wants to use a large Fanuc robot with RoboDK Software. Essentially, it will handle a 20 kW, 24,000 RPM spindle with an HSK tool holder to machine like a 5-axis milling machine.
I am curious if anybody on this site has used this software interface and what kind of issues you might have run into integrating the spindle with the Fanuc controller. We will be using Ethernet/IP to communicate to the spindle drive.
The robot has a payload of 700kg so not a toy . . . should be stiff enough to be reasonably accurate machining composite materials and wood, and perhaps aluminum.
I want to set the customers expectations realistically.
